Some of the huts featured in this book started life as musterers' huts, as accommodation for government hunters, as overnight shelters for trampers. Many were built by different government departments over the years, some by tramping clubs and hunting clubs, yet others by person or persons unknown. They range from structures no bigger than a dog kennel to multi-roomed mansions with all modern conveniences. Each has its own history and own unique character.
